Naturopathy

Naturopathic medicine follows six premises:
  1. To do no harm by using methods and medicines that reduces the risk of harmful side effects.
  2. To treat the causes of disease by identifying and removing the underlying causes of an illness, rather than masking the symptoms.
  3. To teach the principles of healthy living and preventative medicine by sharing knowledge with patients and encouraging individual responsibility and passion for optimal health.
  4. To heal the whole person through individualized treatment by understanding the unique physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental and social factors that contribute to disease and customizing treatment protocols specifically for the patient.
  5. To emphasize prevention by partnering with the patient to assess risk factors and recommend appropriate interventions to maintain health and prevent illness throughout life.
  6. To support the healing power of the body by identifying and removing obstacles to the body’s inherent self-healing process.
How Naturopathic medicine is different
Naturopathic Doctors spend more time with patients. Our first visit is typically 60-90 minutes, and follow-up visits range from 30 to 60 minutes. This amount of time allows naturopathic doctor to gather a much larger amount of information about your concerns and general health. This information is reviewed and researched in detail, and reveals the potentially contributing factors to a patients health concern. Another major difference is the wide array of tools at the naturopaths disposal to help with your medical concern. There are many complimentary and alternative therapies to chose from, however research and clinical experience supports the use of certain therapies over others for certain conditions. If you have never seen a Naturopathic Doctor before, feel free to book a 15 min consultation to see if this is the right form of healthcare for you.
