Chiropractic Care focuses on preventative treatment, addressing dysfunction before it becomes a problem. Care addresses disorders of the musculoskeletal system, nervous system and the effects of these disorders on a person’s general health. It is most often used to treat neuro-musculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs and headaches.
Chiropractic is one of the largest primary-contact health care professions in Canada, treating approximately five and a half million Canadians annually with non-invasive, drug free, hands-on care. At Georgian Family Chiropractic, Dr. Joel Simpson assesses disorders related to the spine, nervous system, and joints of the extremities and provides accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
Focusing on how the body’s neuromusculoskeletal system is functioning on a whole, our chiropractor is able to not only correct the symptoms that are affecting you but he can identify underlying issues and conditions that may be resulting in chronic and recurrent complaints.
At Georgian Family Chiropractic, we incorporate multiple therapies into our treatments in order to best address the specific needs of each individual patient. Chiropractic manipulation, also referred to as an adjustment, is used to treat areas of decreased movement in the joints, thereby reducing pain and increasing joint function, which improves overall health.

Chiropractic For Adults:
It is never “too late” to have a chiropractic spinal check-up. In fact, more and more seniors are enjoying the benefits of chiropractic to put insurance into their health and planning for longer independence and quality of life.
As one gets older the wear and tear on the body accumulates and, when not addressed, can lead to unpleasant symptoms of pain, stiffness, and decreased range of motion. Unfortunately, this can result in lifestyle changes, such as needing help with regular activities of daily living, or having to give up favourite hobbies with friends. You do not have to live this way.
At Georgian Family Chiropractic we strive to help people maintain their quality of life and independence. Specific chiropractic techniques are used to restore function of the spine and nerve system. The techniques used are gentle and effective, and include adjustments that are instrument-assisted, drop-table assisted and mobilizations. Each care plan is tailored to the individual’s presentation and unique needs.
Georgian Family Chiropractic looks forward to being a part of your health care team. Together let’s keep your golden years, golden!
Pregnancy is a great time to begin or continue with your chiropractic care.
From conception to birth, as a baby develops in the womb, a woman’s body undergoes a number of changes. There are various physical, chemical, and emotional stresses that impact the body, which commonly lead to spinal and pelvic dysfunction. As a result of these dysfunctions, a large number of women experience headaches, neck pain, back pain, pelvic pain, and leg pain during this time.
Chiropractic adjustments help to restore normal motion of the joints of the spine, thereby alleviating unnecessary stress to the neuromuscular system. Specific chiropractic techniques and pregnancy pillows are used to ensure maximal comfort. Research has shown that regular chiropractic adjustments during pregnancy decrease aches and pain, reduce labour time, and contribute to a more comfortable birth.
It is never “too early” to have a chiropractic spinal check-up. When it comes down to it, just like adults, babies have a spine and nerve system too. And whether your spine is big or small, there is possibility for spinal and nerve dysfunction.
Spinal problems can begin even before a child is born dependent on position in the womb. Unnatural positions such as breech or occiput posterior can contribute to spinal stress. There is also a lot of stress placed on the infant’s spine during labour and delivery; this is true whether your baby is born vaginally or via caesarian section. Spinal stress continues as babies grow, in particular when reaching developmental milestones like lifting their head, sitting, crawling, and walking— the process of mastering these skills often leads to falls, bumps, and bruises which have a direct impact on a growing spine.
Chiropractic adjusting techniques are modified to fit a child’s age, size, and unique presentation. Newborn adjustments typically consist of “sustained contact”— where light pressure is held over the area of spinal misalignment. The pressure used is no more than you would use when checking the ripeness of a tomato at the grocery store. With toddlers and children, the adjustment techniques used are usually instrument-assisted and drop-piece assisted.
Regardless of the developmental stage of your child and whether or not they have any specific symptoms, we recommend having your baby checked by a chiropractor to ensure proper spinal health and function.
